Association of African American Museums (AAAM) Annual Conference: Voices of Democracy: Commemorating the Voting Rights Act’s 60th Anniversary
Rosita will be attending the Association of African American Museums (AAAM) Annual Conference in Charleston, SC, July 23–25, 2025. The theme this year is Voices of Democracy: Commemorating the Voting Rights Act’s 60th Anniversary. Rosita is so happy to have been selected by the National Museum of African American History & Culture (NMAAHC) to receive the 2025 Culture & Legacy Scholarship to attend this year! Rosita, a long-standing board member of the Pauli Murray Center of History and Social Justice (PMC) will be engaging with and retaining powerful takeaways from the Conference to bring home to the Center.

Pauli Murray Freedom School
This week will be a fun, educational week at the Pauli Murray Freedom School for Girls Leadership Development (PMFS). This week is the inaugural weeklong PMFS summit of the yearlong wraparound program. Young POC female students from the DMV will interact with staff, facilitators, and each other during a dynamic blend of workshops, mentorship, and hands-on projects specifically curated to enhance their learning experience. Participants will develop essential skills in communication, problem-solving and ethical decision-making. Seminars will be facilitated by artists, scholars, historians, activists and more from the DMV and beyond. This groundbreaking, exciting new initiative will provide young women with the knowledge, leadership skills, and civic engagement experiences necessary for personal and professional growth. The PMFS is named in honor of the trailblazing civil rights activist, lawyer, and Episcopal priest, Reverend Dr. Pauli Murray and embodies the spirit of justice, intellectual rigor, and leadership that defined Murray's legacy. The PMFS team is so excited to bring together aspiring leaders from across the region for this week-long immersive experience. Participation in this program (as a scholar or mentor) includes workshops at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in Annapolis, MD and meaningful and enlightening field trips. The Summit will be July 14-19, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. EST each day. Rosita attends the Black Faculty and Staff Association (BFSA) Juneteenth event with goddaughter, Olivia Fields, owner and proprietor of Nail Care by Olivia in Baltimore City. Join us for a powerful celebration of culture, heritage, indispensable people, resilience, solidarity, and renewal as the BFSA at Johns Hopkins hosts the annual Juneteenth Celebration. This year marks the 160th anniversary of Juneteenth. Our theme — "Still We Rise: Defending Truth, Honoring Our History, Empowering Our Future, Driving Solidarity & Change" which underscores both the legacy we honor and the future we build. “Legacy Lit the Torch. We Carry It Forward.

West End Neighborhood Juneteenth Event
Rosita will attend this event to celebrate Juneteenth with the close-knit West End community. Stop by to enjoy the festivities and visit the Pauli Murray Center for History and Social Justice at no cost! We'll be open from 11 AM - 3 PM during the festival.

Book Discussion with Rosita Stevens-Holsey
Rosita will share with vestry, guests and staff about her book "Pauli Murray: The Life of a Pioneering Feminist & Civil Rights Activist". Rosita will stay for lunch with and sign books for attendees. During the day, church vestry will share the Fitzgerald family histories with Rosita and guests. This event will be at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church - Hillsborough, NC.

Rosita will be meeting with Pat Merriman, artist and co-founding member of Hillsborough Gallery of Arts. Pat has created a feminist collage including Pauli Murray and will present Rosita with a copy. The original will be donated to the Pauli Murray Center.

Professional Development Session with Durham Public Schools
Rosita will participate in a professional development session for twelve Durham Public Schools educators together with Charlene Martin-Klein, K-12 Social Studies Specialist. This session will be held at the Pauli Murray Center for History and Social Justice. The educators will be given a tour by the Center's Director of Education and Outreach, Anjalique Knight to deepen their understanding of Aunt Pauli's life and legacy.

Adult Forum at St. Philip's Episcopal Church, Durham, NC
Join us for a special Adult Forum with Rosita Stevens-Holsey, niece of the Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray. A passionate advocate for preserving her aunt's legacy, Rosita is the founder of Preserving Pauli Murray LLC, and co-author of "Pauli Murray: The Life of a Pioneering Feminist & Civil Rights Activist." Come learn more about the extraordinary life and lasting impact of Pauli Murray - Durham native, legal trailblazer, Episcopal priest, and life long champion for justice. Also, St. Philip's was recently gifted a Pauli Murray icon that will be blessed at the Forum.

The Local Legacy of Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray
"The Local Legacy of Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray" sponsored by the Carolina Public Humanities at the Drakeford Library Complex in Carrboro, NC. This program will be a collaboration with the Pauli Murray Center for History and Social Justice. Anna Agbe-Davies, Associate Professor of Anthropology will speak about the archaeological survey done of Pauli Murray's childhood home in Durham, NC. Anjalique Knight, Director of Education and Outreach with the Pauli Murray Center will speak on how the Center stewards Aunt Pauli's commitment to justice and activism. Cori Greer-Banks, Director, Carolina K-12 will discuss Aunt Pauli's multi-faceted life and career as a daughter of North Carolina . Rosita will be on hand to add family anecdotes, share stories and answer questions.

They Changed Our Lives: Sincerely Yours, Pauli Murray
Rosita attends the performance of this cantata by the Atlanta choir, "OurSong". After the performance, Rosita will participate in the post concert discussion with the creative team about Pauli Murray and the creation of "Sincerely Yours, Pauli Murray". Other panelists include Jane Ramseyer, dramaturg, Steve Milloy, composer and Robert Glor, conductor. The performance is held at St. Luke's Episcopal

Pauli Murray Center Book Club with Panel Discussion
Rosita participates in the Pauli Murray Center’s (PMC) hybrid book club series beginning on February 5, 2025. The group will be reading Proud Shoes: The Story of an American Family, by Pauli Murray, published in 1956. The group also meets (virtually or in-person at the Center) on February 19th, March 5th, March 19th, and April 2nd. The series culminates on April 16, 2025 at 6:30 p.m. EST. This session will end with a panel discussion, moderated by Kristin Hauser, PMC’s Communications and Programming Coordinator. Joining Rosita on the panel will be author, Dr. Zelda Lockhart, a Fulbright Specialist engaging in cross-cultural story projects for generational healing in the U.S. and abroad and Beth Ione Ward, PMC’s Vice Board Chair, Senior Writer at VentureWell and friend of Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray.

Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray Chapter of the Union of Black Episcopalians Chapter Meeting
The Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray Chapter of the Union of Black Episcopalians will hold a Chapter meeting at Diocesan Center, 4 East University Parkway, Conference Room F, Baltimore, Maryland 21218. In honor of Women's History Month, the first part of the meeting will focus on "The Legacy of The Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray". This presentation will be given by Rev. Murray’s niece, Rosita Stevens-Holsey.

TransAction 2025 Conference: The Personal is Political and Professional: Navigating Trans and Gender Queer Identities in Higher Education
During Rosita’s visit to SUNY Cortland, she will attend the TransAction 2025 Conference, “The Personal is Political and Professional: Navigating Trans and Gender Queer Identities in Higher Education” on March 7th. This conference will be centered around discussion about the needs and experiences of transgender and gender queer individuals in the college environment. The keynote speaker will be Jamie MaKinster, PhD, (she/her). Jamie is the Vice Provost for Assessment, Accreditation and Institutional Effectiveness, and a Professor of Educational Studies at Hobart and William Smith Colleges. Rosita plans to attend and participate in the Conference as an exhibitor and will sign books for attendees.

SUNY Cortland visit continues
From 8:30 - 9:45 a.m. EST Rosita speaks with Dr. Andrée Myers' fiction writing class about the process of publishing a book and the rise of graphic novel popularity. At 12:15 p.m. EST Rosita meets with Erin Boylan, the Executive Director of SUNY Cortland's Alumni Association and Dr. Carrie Rood, PhD, Assistant Professor in the Foundations and Social Advocacy Department and Cortland's Urban Recruitment of Educators (C.U.R.E.) and members of C.U.R.E. Rosita introduces the group to Pauli Murray and discusses her own unique experience as a SUNY Cortland student in the 1960's as an education major.

Film Viewing & Discussion: My Name is Pauli Murray
SUNY Cortland's Center for Gender and Intercultural Studies presents the 90 minute award winning documentary "My Name is Pauli Murray" on March 5th at 5:30 p.m. EST at the Brockway Jacobus Lounge on campus. Rosita will introduce the film and field questions with students, staff and guests during the post-film Q&A session.

Rosita visits SUNY Cortland for an extended visit in honor of Women's History Month. One of her first events will be at the Brockway Hall Jacobus Lounge on campus to discuss Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray and the groundbreaking work she's done and the impact it still has today.

Please join us for our "Inspiring Generations: Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray" webinar. Rosita Stevens-Holsey will discuss the life and legacy of Rev. Murray with Angela Thorpe Mason, Pauli Murray Center for History and Social Justice Executive Director and Rev. Dr. Terri Ofori, Brooks School Dean of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging. Panel members will answer guests questions at the end of the program.

Rosita visits St. John's Episcopal Church in Ellicott City, MD to give a presentation on the life of her aunt, Rev. Dr. Murray. The presentation begins at 10:10 a.m. EST.

Stained Glass Window Unveiling at St. Paul's Rock Creek Episcopal Parish
St. Paul’s Rock Creek Episcopal Parish unveils their newly installed stained glass window panels. One panel will feature Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray, replacing Confederate general, Robert E. Lee. The congregation also voted to include The Rt. Rev. Barbara C. Harris (first female Bishop of the Episcopal Church of the United States) and The Rt. Rev. John T. Walker (first Black Bishop of the Episcopal Church of the Diocese of Washington) on window panels as well.

Rosita visits Dr. Henry A. Wise Jr. High School in Upper Marlboro, Maryland to speak to students about Rev. Dr. Pauli Murray. Thanks to Dr. Yvette Thomasson, Professional School Counselor for the invitation. Rosita introduces the high school students and staff to Pauli Murray using the award winning documentary, "My Name is Pauli Murray".
